Richard Schwamm, Esq.
Richard B. Schwamm, partner and shareholder of Haliczer Pettis & Schwamm’s Orlando office, is an experienced trial attorney who focuses his practice in the areas of medical malpractice, catastrophic brain injury, personal injury, premises liability, wrongful death and complex corporate litigation. He earned Martindale-Hubbell’s top “AV” rating for his high professional and ethical standards. Mr. Schwamm has been named to the list of Florida Super Lawyers from 2010 – 2016, as selected by Law & Politics magazine. Only 5 percent of attorneys in the state receive the recognition each year.
Mr. Schwamm is currently celebrating his 25th year in the practice of law. The long-time legal rights advocate has dedicated his professional life to serving his clients.
Throughout his career, Mr. Schwamm has accepted responsibility as a “first chair trial lawyer” in some of the most complicated of legal matters in Florida courts. He frequently accepts invitations to lecture throughout Florida and the U.S. about numerous medical and legal issues, including obstetrical malpractice and the delivery of brain injured children, child safety, catastrophic injury, medical malpractice, hospital law, and significant injury cases involving newborns, toddlers, teenagers and their families. In addition, he routinely provides lectures about advanced trial strategies, tactics and sophisticated trial technology. He has been an invited guest speaker for nationally recognized organizations and education institutions, including Harvard University, University of Central Florida, Medical Intelligence Corporation, and the Contemporary Forum Speaker Series. Recently, he was the featured speaker at the “Women’s Health and OB/GYN Nursing” conference in New Orleans, Louisiana in November 2015. He also spoke at the medico-legal conference in Las Vegas, Nevada in October 2015, titled “Birth Injuries and the Law” and at the Contemporary Forums conference in San Diego, California in October 2016, titled “Pediatric Critical Care and Emergency Nursing”.
Mr. Schwamm received a bachelor’s degree in international relations area studies from Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., in 1988, and a law degree from Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Fla., in 1991. He was an editor for the Stetson Law Review. He became a partner of Haliczer Pettis & Schwamm in 1999.
Mr. Schwamm is admitted to The Florida Bar (1991). He is admitted to practice in U.S. District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. He lives in Windermere, Fla., with his wife and two children.
