(6) Why is it so hard to get the public's attention to the problems in the foster care system? |
| The recent high profile case of little Rilya Wilson, who turned up missing from her Miami-Dade foster family, highlighted serious, systemic problems with DCF and brought the public's attention to the potential danger faced by children in state custody. The public was outraged but did not know what to do. FCF plans to continue to educate the public on how individuals can make a difference. In fact various members are regularly called on by the press for their expert opinions and insight. They have been interviewed by ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, FOX, New York Times, Time Magazine, Miami Herald & the Sun-Sentinel. |
